We all want to be “diamonds”.
Buhle realized preparing to become a “diamond” is not only to obtain a certificate but to prepare yourself to socially “fit in”.
We believe that being exposed to the best will bring the best forward in a person.
Our approach differs completely from other student houses and references.
● Our management: All are ex tertiary students that understand the need and expectations of students.
● Social events: To build that so important social networking we have summer and winter Buhle parties organized by “the Buhle Student Marketing team.
● Weekly Home Cell meeting and two exam prayer evenings: Organized by students.
● Reach out to the community: To give back to the communities the students organize an “orphanage day”. Kids of orphanages in the Emfuleni area are invited for a day of fun, games, food, and ice cream.
● A beautiful save environment; Immaculate gardens, 4 swimming pools with barbecue and entertainment areas for students after a hard day of study.
● Exercise: A Buhle soccer field with once/twice a year completion between the residences, between student girl teams, and even between boys and girls. Great fun! Trampolines and facilities to practice netball.
● Work experience: Students are part-time employed as “house representatives’ to bridge the gap between students and management. Students are employed to promote and market Buhle and to arrange and organize all the Buhle social events.
We strive in creating a sense of community and family amongst our students, a safe and secure environment wherein our students can thrive.
Buhle Student Houses can best be described as student villages. It consists of houses, adjacent to VUT, that were bought to create a home-away-from-home environment for students. The houses bought were converted into custom build student accommodation currently housing 542 students. The houses are grouped to form three secure complexes with entertainment areas, 6 study areas, and 4 swimming pools surrounded by beautiful gardens. Two properties are located opposite the main entrance of VUT, a third 120 meters away from the main gate, and all the residences only 4.6km away from NWU. Buhle provides a bus shuttle service.
Buhle Student Houses has a proud history of students organizing events and reaching out to the community. Examples are the Buhle House soccer team, netball teams, aerobics teams, and a vibrant “Home Cell” coming together once a week to pray and worship with two evenings a year lead by “leading” Gospel singers. Once a year the Buhle House students have a social outreach event where they invite between 150 to 200 orphans for a day of fun, games, and handing out gifts. Students feel empowered and privileged to be able to organize these events which contribute to the popularity of Buhle Student Houses. There are no other residences in Vanderbijlpark where students get these opportunities. There are no residences with swimming pools, barbeques, and entertainment areas such as at Buhle Houses. Buhle believes that the gardens, entertainment areas, even the 4 beautiful clean pools, only 2 students sharing a bathroom play a pivotal role in providing a differentiator in the market.
